Disney is driving me absolutely nuts nowadays.

Their live-action adaptations of past cartoon movies have been completely transformed to cater to the small percentage of people who are offended at absolutely anything. The type of people who would be offended at the word ‘Hello’ because deaf people wouldn’t be able to hear it.

I’m not trying to be racist when I say this, but just like Netflix, Disney are hiring actors who weren’t the skin colour of the original character to act as that character. For instance Ariel (who was white in the original cartoon), is now black.

In reality this doesn’t make sense as a character can’t just change skin colours like that. I bet it’s still a good film and she’s a good actor (haven’t watched it), but that just doesn’t make sense at all.

Rachel Zegler (The actor who’s casting as Snow White) doesn’t even properly like Snow White. But guess what’s also going to happen, she’s not going to be saved by the prince in order for the film to be empowering for girls. Wasn’t that a pinnacle part of the story?

I know Disney’s trying to push the ‘girls can do it too’ narrative, which I agree on, but they should NOT modify an iconic story to push it! Create a new movie instead for that narrative.

Disney has completely lost the plot, they are too politically correct. Just make a good movie like the good old days, without having to worry about snowflakes, that shouldn’t be too hard right?

Disney should learn that they don’t need to please everyone by catering their movies to the unnecessarily sensitive people, but if they carry on like this, I won’t be surprised if Disney filed for bankruptcy anytime soon while their films steadily lose popularity.
